Ways To Use A Notebook

I always have notebooks lying around ready to be used, but never knowing how to use them. Buying a new notebook seems great at the time, but when you come to wanting to use it, normally you don't have a clue what to use it for. I hope my post gives you some inspiration on how to use your new and old notebooks.

Something I have quite recently discovered is bullet journalling. It's a great way to keep organised and use your notebooks! You can use it as a diary and to do list, and add additional pages you may require, such as budgeting or books you want to read.Look out for future bullet journalling posts!

Another use for a notebook is to use it as a brain dump, either writing down anything on your mind, or write down ideas for when your bored, or tasks that need doing at some point. I like to use my brain dump to write down a list of tasks that need doing sometime in the future, but not by a certain date, such as buying certain things for university.

You could use your notebook to journal, maybe even just a few sentences each day. I'd love to be able to commit to this, as it would be great to look back on, especially big events, such as moving away from home.

You could use your notebook for challenges, such as #RockYourHandwriting so you can improve yourself, at the same time as using up your many notebooks. I love this challenge personally, and seeing everyone's perception of the different prompts each day over on the Facebook group. You can find out more here!

Children's Books.

As part of my pre-course tasks ready for University, we have to read a number of books and poems aimed at children in key stage 2. I decided that I would share a few of these on here and my thoughts on them, to allow you to share them with family members or in the classroom.

The first book I read was Smart by Kim Slater, which you  can buy here. This was a book about a young boy called Kieran, who seeks to solve a murder crime. You follow Kieran finding out clues to the crime, and learn a lot about his life at home. In the book it does cover some controversial topics, such as drugs, swearing and abuse. There is a little swearing in the book, however, it is mostly covered with *beeps* in the text, leaving it to the imagination. I found this book easy to follow along, and very easy to read. I really enjoyed reading this book, and feel like it would be a good way to bring in topics of drugs and abuse to teach them about what they should do if they are in a similar situation. On Amazon it does have a warning for children under 10 and it should be used with adult supervision. However, I have seen on other websites children under 10 reading this book.

The next book I read was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Ronald Dahl, which you can buy here. I had already watched the film, but I have never read the book before. I really enjoyed this book, it seemed more magical than the film. It's a great way to test children's imagination and you can get lots of activities linked to the book from this. Most people will already know what the book is about, but Charlie lives with his parents and his grandparents in a small house. They don't have much money and live on very little food. Charlie desperately wants to win one of the golden tickets in one of the Wonka chocolate bars. You follow his journey to find one of these tickets, and through the factory.

These are the two books I've read so far, as I read more I will post again which books I have read and recommend them to you. I hope you enjoyed this post, and I hoped it helped someone out there!

5SOS - Girls Talk Boys

I've been listening to 5SOS for a few years now, and when I heard they were releasing a new single, and it was a part of the Ghostbusters movie, I was rather excited and couldn't wait to hear it. The day very quickly came for the song to be officially released, and boy was it worth the wait. I instantly became addicted to the song, and couldn't turn it off.

I love the way that each member of the band gets opportunity to sing and show off their talent. The song gives Luke opportunity to show off his piano skills - which has never been shown before - when he performs the song live! The band have commented that it sets the tone for their future music!

The music video finally dropped today, after us doing lots of promo on their spotify! The video features scenes from the film, and shows 5SOS attempting to catch ghosts and Michael dressing up as Stay Puft.

Download the song on Itunes here!

Beautiful Weather & We Were Liars

We have had some beautiful weather here in the UK the past few days! The snapchat photo on the left was at 10am!! It has been lovely to have some sun, even though it did become a little uncomfortable at times. Although, it was nice to get outside and enjoy the sunshine!! I've been making the most of the weather and getting out in the garden and catching a few rays...although I'm still just as pale!

I've been doing quite a bit of reading whilst out in the garden, and I decided to start reading We Were Liars by E. Lockhart, which you can purchase here! It's about a family who go to an island each summer, and something happens that changes everything. You follow the main character in discovering what has happened and finally get to the truth in the final part. I really enjoyed this book, I read it in just over 24 hours, and I didn't want to put the book down. I love how quickly the book moves and how intense the book is. I also loved how the chapters were set out and how chapters can begin and end in the middle of the page.

SLFL Manchester M&G/Soundcheck Experience

I've transferred this over from my other blog!

SLFL Manchester, 22nd April, Night 1!

We got to the arena at around 6pm, firstly I bought my merch, I decided on the jersy world tour top, the white tour t-shirt and the pink wristband. Then we went to the guestlist box office, where we were told  to wait for Florence who would check us in and take us through to the m&g. At around 6:35pm, Florence turned up and gave us all a wristband and told us to go through the side entrance to the arena and wait in there. Around half of us went into the lift and when trying to fit all of us in the security said that the lift will break if were not careful as it breaks a lot. When at the bottom, we waited for the rest of the group to come down. We then walked through the floor section of the arena to the opposite side where we were told the rules and got into a line.
We then waited for about 20 minutes before being taken through to the corridor where the room was that we would meet them in. I think we were the 5th pair to meet them. Once I got to the door I could see Calum and Luke having their photo taken with the fans before me. I then gave my mum my bag, and told her to watch them for me. I then walked into the room and Michael said 'Hello, how are you?' and I said 'hello' to them all. I then stood in between Luke & Michael (in the middle) and I heard Luke sing something and then he said 'ahh, that was in falsetto'. We then posed for the photo, once it had been taken Michael said 'Thank you so much' to me as I walked back to my mum. My mum then dropped our bags and ran over to them for a picture with them! We then were ushered out of the room & back into the arena. We then went to our seats (Block 212, row B seats 11 & 12).
When we got to our seats Jessarae (the first opening act) was on his last song of the night. Then a few minutes after Don Broco (the second opening act) came on stage & performed their songs. About 30 minutes after Don Broco it was time for 5SOS. 5SOS were amazing as always even though Luke & Michael weren't feeling too good & their voices were a little off, they still put 100% into their performance. The #NBSRainbowProject went really well & there was lots of people with signs & having put so much effort into the project along with others, it was so nice to see it work so well.

SLFL Manchester, 23rd April, Night 2!

Night two was the night of sound check & being 5th row (Block C, row E, seats 11 & 12). We got to the arena at around 3:30pm & there was already a long queue of fans waiting for the soundcheck. We went through to the concourse where we checked in, got our wristband & lanyard, we then waited in the queue till around 4:20pm, when we all started to get let into the arena. I think I was sat 8th row in block B (middle block) for soundcheck & I had a really good view. They came out & sang catch fire, then came and sat at the end of the runway. They answered a few questions about  who would be the 5th member, writing with James Bourne, when they last cried and also what song tattoo they would get along with a few others.
They then sang wrapped around your finger & went off stage. We then were taken back onto the concourse whilst the support acts did their private soundcheck. We were let back into the arena at 6pm, the first support act came on stage at around 7:15pm, then after their performance it was the second support act. 5SOS came on stage at around 8:40pm. It was such a good show! They performed a cover of wonderwall instead of making up a song about Manchester & they nailed it! It was such a good show & it wasn't the exact same as the night before, which was nice because it makes each show individual and more exciting.

I've had such a good couple of days seeing the boys live twice, they were so good live! I would highly recommend seeing 5SOS live if you ever get the opportunity as it's such a good show & the atmosphere is amazing!
