Applying for University can seem like a daunting prospect, but it's really not that bad! Just start early and keep on top of the process and you will be fine!!
Personal Statement
I'd say that you should have a first draft of your personal statement done by July, and get someone to check it and make improvements. I would then be working on it bit by bit over the summer holidays and constantly improve it and get other people's opinions and advice. Most of the time then, you will be back to college and have a member of staff willing to support you through the process and be able to check your personal statement. I think I did around 20 drafts of my personal statement! During the summer holidays I looked at it over and over again finding new ways to put things and new things to add in that would support my application!
Get Experience
No matter what course you're applying for, getting experience will help you massively. I applied for teaching and as part of my college course I get experience with children aged 0-8. Alongside this I volunteered at my local Brownies to support this further! Experience will also help you fully decide if this is the career path you actually want to go down, which can be a very valuable experience. You can also begin to develop skills that you will need when you gain this job, like communicating with your colleagues or carrying our routine tasks. It will also help you when you get a job in that field of work!
I hope you found this information helpful! If you have any questions leave them below and I will get back to you! Good luck with your application!!
Love, Becky!
